YEAR FOR BIG FISH!!!

July 21st, 2010

This has been the year for big fish….at least for me. I broke three of my personal records this year. 30 inch 10 lb walleye, 36 1/2 inch northern pike and the latest a 30 inch lake trout. Still on the to do list is a muskie over 43 inches and 20 lbs.

SINGLE FISHERMEN WANTED

July 3rd, 2010

WELCOME TO THE SINGLE FISHERMAN’S CONNECTION.

We have received a good number of inquires from single fishermen. For one reason or another they lost their fishing partner but still want to come to Canada and fish.
We want to help.
We will take single fishermen if a cabin is available but only with a 10 day notice.
For those singles who want to be notified of a vacant cabin we suggest emailing us at pinesunesetlodge@yahoo.com and then Join our Mailing list at the bottom of our home page at www.pinesunsetlodge.com .

To get a set date reservation you would have to team up with one or more fishermen for the same date. I am hoping those interested in meeting a potential fishing partner will let us know so that we can get you together to chat online or by phone. When you email us make sure you include a phone number as some fisherman do not have internet service. We would be willing to help in the planning. Teaming up will save you money too.

We are at the organizing stages of this great idea for singles and any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

End of June Report

June 23rd, 2010

I never thought we could have a repeat of last years weather but the end of May and beginning of June was just that. Rain, wind, cool temps. The last week or so that has tapered off to showers less often. The blueberries love it. They will be ready a month ahead of schedule.

Back to fishing….. The mayfly hatch started over a week ago and for the most part is over. The walleye and perch we are catching have stomachs full of them. This week has been a great week for big fish. Several 20 inch…23 inch…a few 26 inch and a 30 inch walleye were caught and released. We are finding most of the walleye in 6-8 feet of water in the weed lines in the bays were the water is 5 degrees warmer (68 degrees). The main lake is not producing numbers of fish yet. That will happen soon as the water warms up.

The weather is still rather cool and wet. We had 2 inches of rain a couple days ago and the water level is higher then normal. Water temp is mid 50′.

Opening Week

May 22nd, 2009

The weather for opening week was cold, windy, wet. Hey, we had one day that was warm. The guys brought in some nice fish both walleye and northern. And had to release some very nice small mouth.

The website is done.

April 27th, 2009

After many long hours our webmaster is now done with our brand new 70+ page website. He did a fantastic job. I hope you enjoy it. Your comments and suggestions are always welcome.

Now my only headache is trying to figure out this blog stuff. I sure could use some help. If anyone has experience setting up a blog page…..please….let me know. I’m sure once it is set up I can keep up with the entries. This technical stuff is not for me. I’d rather be cleaning, painting, fishing anything else.

Anyway, the season is almost here and we have a lot of work to do. ’Til next entry.   Sharon
